The Dreadnought is the traditional workhorse of acoustic guitar music. With a large, deep body and wide waist, RainSong's DR has the powerful bass and ringing treble of a great rhythmic guitar, but still maintains a wonderfully balanced sound, with clear distinction among individual notes. From rhythm to lead, the DR makes its presence known. Capable of cutting through admirably in any acoustic setting, the DR is loud enough to compete with banjoes, mandolins and other traditional volume hogs.
RainSong Neck Options
N2 – The default neck on this model, the N2 is based on a modified “U” profile that has been popular in guitars since the 1950s. While the N2 has a more substantial feel than the N1 neck, it is ergonomically sound and actually results in more efficient transfer of string vibration energy to the soundboard. The N2 has an adjustable truss rod that allows customization of the neck relief to individual preferences.
N1 – A “no cost”option on this model, the N1 is the original 6-string RainSong neck crafted using a unique low-profile design, one that is at once comfortable and different, thin and easy to play. The N1 is not adjustable. However, these necks are pre-engineered for optimal relief. As a result, heavy truss rods are not required and action can be set for fast, buzz-free playing. The N1 has the same nut-width and scale length as the N2. The N1 features the“dual shark” abalone inlay on the 12th fret.
NS – A “no cost”option on this model, the NS has the same profile as the N2 neck. However, the NS neck joins the body at the 12th fret rather than the 14th fret. This moves the bridge back on the soundboard towards the center of the lower bout resulting in improved sonic energy from the strings to the soundboard and enhanced bass response. The NS also has a shorter scale length (24.875”) making it a more comfortable neck to hold and play.
